Douglas Laboratories Opti-Zinc is a dietary supplement providing the trace element zinc. Zinc has involvement in most major metabolic pathways. Zinc supports a normal immune response as immune cells require adequate amounts of zinc in order to divide. Zinc support the antioxidant activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) for protection against harmful free radical damage. Typical zinc intake is close to the recommended daily allowance but the elderly, pregnant women, and vegetarians generally have lowered zinc levels.
